Alix Lukas is an illustrator and lifelong nature enthusiast specializing in natural science illustration, with a particular fondness for insects and invertebrates. She enjoys creating intimate portraits of larvae and other obscure fauna whose forms and textures captivate her, hoping to challenge perceptions and give insight into the beauty and charisma of these often unloved creatures.
She is especially enamored with the local ecosystem of her native Midwest, and currently lives in Madison Wisconsin. She is a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, and her work has included projects for the Field Museum of Natural History, John G. Shedd Aquarium, Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation and Whole Foods Market.
When not fawning over grubs and lake critters, she is an obsessive natural health and wellness enthusiast and lover of vegetables, who delights in farmer's markets and inventing experimental recipes from unlikely combinations.
